How to Root Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500

Samsung Galaxy S4 with model number I9500 has got firmware update Android 4.2.2 XXUAMDL Jelly Bean. This update is only available for few countries and not for all. User of the Samsung Galaxy S4 can avail this update from KIES servers. Users from supported countries can manually install the update by using Odin flashing tools. This update is rolled out by Samsung. The main reason behind this update is to improve the features of the device. This update also fixes some small bugs.

Below is the step by step explanation for the users of Samsung Galaxy S4 who installed the Android 4.2.2 XXUAMDL Jelly Bean update and wants to root their device on it.

Please prepare yourself and also your device with below mention list before rooting your Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500.

1. Your Device must be factory unlocked and working with any carrier. Also Please check your device model number. This update is only and only for Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 model. You can check your device Model number by Tapping on Settings and then tap on About Phone. If you are sure and see that model number I9500 go ahead.

2. This process requires file transfer between Galaxy S4 and Computer so you have to download and install USB driver for Samsung Galaxy S4. You can download Driver here.

3. After installing drivers enable USB Debugging Mode on Samsung Galaxy S4. Enabling Debugging will benefit phone to connect it with computer and also use Android SDK with it. For Debugging Tap on Menu –Settings-Applications. Now Slide and Tap on Development and make sure that the USB Debugging Mode is ON.

4. Please make sure that your device has more than 85 percent battery charged.

5. Backup all your important data.

6. Download Odin v3.07

Now you are ready to root your Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500. Just Follow Below Steps. 

1. Download SamsungI9500_cwm_Recovery_by cofface_0503.zip   on your PC.

2. Unzip all files from Odinv3.07 and SamsungI9500_cwm_Recovery on your PC preferably on your desktop.

3.Switch off your device and boot it on Download Mode. To do this Press and hold the Volume Down + Home buttons together and press the power button until it turn on. Now Again press the power button to confirm that it boot in Download Mode.

4.Launch Odin on your PC.

5.Connect your device and computer via USB cable. and wait so Odin can detect your device.

6.You will see one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number it mean that your device connected to your PC successfully.

7.Now select the extracted files of SamsungI9500_cwm_Recovery on your PC. Click on 'PDA' and select file with 'CODE' in its name.Click on 'Phone' and select file with 'MODEM' in its name. Ignore this step if there is no such file.Click on 'CSC' and select file with CSC' in its name. Ignore this step if there is no such file.Click on 'PIT' and select the .pit file. Ignore this step if there is no such file.

8. Configure the Odin settings. Verify that Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options are selected in Odin window. As for the Re-partition, do not click tick the option

9. When everything is set, click the Start button in Odin. The installation process should begin now and take a few minutes to complete.Once the installation process is completed, the phone will restart automatically. Now you can unplug the USB cable from the phone after the home screen appears on the device.

10.Switch off the Galaxy S4 again and boot the phone into recovery mode. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together and then select ROOT YOUR PHONE.When the rooting process is completed, return to the main recovery menu and reboot the phone by selecting reboot system now.
